Commissioning architectural millwork.

For custom shelving, built-ins and wood wall paneling, the room is part of the brief. We work with architects, interior designers and private clients across New York City, connecting design development, fabrication and installation from our Brooklyn Navy Yard studio.

Bring us into the conversation.

You might be planning a renovation, developing a room with your designer, or working from a coordinated set of architectural drawings. Share where the project stands and which elements you’d like the studio to take on.

For millwork, the surrounding architecture matters as much as the object. Plans, site photographs and details about adjacent finishes help us discuss how shelving, paneling and built-in elements will meet the space.

From idea to installation

Working with the studio.

  1. 01

    Establish the scope

We discuss the elements to be made, the available drawings and the project’s stage. This helps clarify the design support, fabrication and installation work needed.

  2. 02

    Work through the details

Material choices, proportions and technical drawings connect the design intent to construction. Junctions, edges and the relationship to adjacent surfaces are part of that development.

  3. 03

    Make and install

Fabrication carries the resolved details into the workshop. Site access and the wider project schedule inform how the work moves into its final setting.

What to share.

Send what you have. These details are a starting point, not a requirement for getting in touch.

Plans and the scope of work
Identify the rooms and elements you have in mind. Include available floor plans, elevations and approximate dimensions, even if they are still being developed.
Materials and design intent
Share references, specifications and any finishes already selected for the room. Let us know who is involved in the design and which decisions remain open.
Site and schedule
Include the location, budget and desired timing. Known access restrictions, site readiness and the wider construction schedule help frame installation discussions.

Before we begin.

What kinds of millwork does the studio make?

Our commissioned work includes custom shelving, built-in elements and wood wall paneling. Tell us which elements you need and how they fit into the room.

Can you develop millwork from an architect’s drawings?

Yes. We work with architects and interior designers as well as private clients. Send the available plans and specifications and tell us where design development or fabrication support is needed.

Can I get in touch before the drawings are finished?

Yes. Share what is available and explain which decisions are still open. That gives us a starting point for discussing design development and the scope of the studio’s involvement.

Do you handle installation?

The studio carries commissioned millwork through installation. The location, access and site conditions are discussed alongside the design and fabrication scope.

See the finished work.

you have in mind.

Share your space, your references and what you’d like to make. An initial idea is enough to begin a conversation.
